$269OWSOutdoor Workshop Series

This popular four class series is a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors after a long winter and flex your photographic muscles as you learn a host of practical shooting skills. As we work through each session you will learn valuable tips for creating top-quality images in a wide range of genres. Topics covered are:

  • Macro Photography (MPE) Learn about the full range of accessory options that bring small subjects up close, with a chance to try many of them out in the field, and discover field techniques that will make your macro shots really stand out.
  • High Dynamic Range Imaging (DRE) Learn how to tame high contrast scenes where it's challenging to record the detail of the brightest and darkest parts of the scene at the same time. Several techniques, ranging from super-simple to more complex will be covered.
  • Panoramic Photography (PPE) Learn how to easily capture super-wide scenes without a super-wide lens using mulitiple photos and the incredibly easy Panorama Stitcher found in Photoshop. Both field techniques and the editing process will be covered.
  • Night Photography (NPE) Explore the excitement of shooting the dark side as we venture out to capture night photos of the city. Discover the tips and techniques that will put your night shots to a new level of excellence, and then have a ton of fun as we experiment with strobing lights and light painting. Don't be surprised if we go over-time on this evening as it's just too fun to stop!

The format for each session is a 1/2 hour classroom lesson, followed by at least 2-1/2 hours of shooting in various Red Deer locations. Followup will be provided in the form of students voluntarily uploading images created during the sessions to the designated course web gallery for comment and discussion on-line.
